Online classes give you flexibility, but they also require responsibility and self-discipline. Instructors expect students to actively participate and stay engaged throughout the course.

Below are common expectations for students taking online classes.

Log in regularly

Check your Canvas courses several times each week to review announcements, assignments, and updates.

Meet deadlines

Assignments, discussions, quizzes, and exams have specific due dates that must be followed.

Participate in discussions

Many online classes require discussion posts and responses to classmates as part of participation.

Check your EICC email

Your college email is the official way instructors and the college communicate with you.

Communicate professionally

Be respectful when interacting with instructors and classmates in emails, discussions, and messages.

Follow academic integrity rules

Complete your own work and avoid plagiarism or unauthorized collaboration.

Read course materials carefully

Review the syllabus, assignment instructions, and course announcements to understand expectations.

Manage your time

Plan to spend about 2–3 hours per week per credit hour studying and completing coursework.

Ask for help when needed
